Indiana criminal justice institute (icji) serves as the state’s planning agency for criminal justice, juvenile justice, traffic safety and victim services.

Bringing together key leaders from the justice system on state, local and national levels, the icji works to identify critical issues facing the criminal justice system and evaluates policies, program and legislation designed to address these issues. The institute also develops long-range strategies for effective administration of the criminal and juvenile justice systems.

The icji awards federal and state grants to help local governments, law enforcement agencies and non-profit organizations prevent and reduce crime, enforce traffic laws, improve the criminal justice system and assist victims of crime. The institute is comprised of eight divisions: communications division, drug and crime control division, research and planning division, substance abuse division, traffic safety division, victim compensation division, victim services division, youth services icji is governed by a board of trustees representing all components of indiana’s criminal and juvenile justice systems.
