This work is driven by the insight that careless (non-cooperative) adaptation of multiple resource or multiple communicating devices can lead to sub-optimal savings in resource utilization or degraded application performance; effects which are often difficult to capture with theoretical models alone, thereby requiring extensive experimental y: ges and systems for data intensive scientific problems in science and engineering can only be solved by harnessing large collections of computers called cluster, clouds, or grids.
