I personally love the underground tech and house daftpunk more, but respect to dp on their progress based on their varied love of all a teenager grown up in the 90s, i think that this album was one of the greatest musical creations of that wonderful decade. The new generations who find homework boring compared to the newer dp albums, should slow down a little bit and take the right amount of time to listen and get in touch with this absolute masterpiece. And maybe the next time you listen to a house track, you get the feeling the producers didn't get it quite right like daft punk did on homework.

And then when you play homework again, by the time daftendirekt is over you realize homework is not trying to revolutionize or sell itself, but instead is just 70 minutes of leisurely grooving, crystalline house intended as a timeless record meant to be enjoyed for no other reason than the love of groovy album completely shook up the house scene as soon as it was released, i have fond memories of those days. Daft punk have never managed to equal the high's of their debut release, although some of their solo projects have come over 7 years surely brings me back to 1996! Quite strange, considering it is an album that basically explores the past, ranging from disco ("fresh", "indo silver club") to kraftwerk-esque minimalism ("daftendirekt", "da funk", "around the world", "alive").

Combining an element of a more modern outlook on club sounds ("revolution 909") and that something that makes it all daft punk ("rollin' & scratching", "rock n roll"), you have yourself quite a unique album and one whose importance should never be versions of this release. What they probably don't realise is just how influential daft punk have been on the dance music scene for many years and how many musicians have been inspired by their filtered electronic funk. Daft punk's heavy bass and vocodered vocals were way ahead of the times when they released homework and despite the more commercial success of 'one more time' from the discovery album, 'around the world' and 'da funk' remain their best work. Homework is full of similarly good production and other standout tracks include 'rollin' and scratchin' and 'teachers'.

From the very first track daftendirekt this album draws you in to another world of funky basslines, beats and robotic voices. For "ottawan" and "cuba" for the "gibson brothers",so it's no surpise that "daft punk" mutated,oddly comforting 70's influnces are all over the hit singles from this album "da funk" and "all around the world"a real leap forward in the french music scene they took the lead started by n and ran with it, this is cracking stuff for the pre-going out party at the weekends,gets you right in the party mood buy for this purpose....
